The coast is best once the ferries go.
By six the day boats have cleared out and the cliffs turn amber. A sunset cruise trades the crowds for a prosecco and the light everyone comes for. This is the hour Positano puts on its postcards.
Lunch is the main event.
The coast cooks with what the terraces give it. Pull fresh pasta at a farmhouse table above Amalfi, fold gnocchi with a nonna, eat the lemon cake still warm. If you book one food thing here, make it a class.
Everything here tastes of lemon.
Sfusato lemons the size of a fist, limoncello poured cold and sharp, wine off the volcanic slopes inland. Most tastings sit right in the groves with the sea below. Sweet, bright, and very Amalfi.
The best of it is walked.
The Path of the Gods is the famous one, but the coast is stitched with old mule trails: the Valley of the Mills above Amalfi, the lemon paths over Maiori, the stairs between Positano’s two beaches. Slow, steep, and worth every step.
